One of the most popular and appreciated created by Microsoft, Windows 7, will remain without mainstream support starting with 14 January 2015.
Microsoft decided to concentrate its efforts in finishing the development of Windows 10, the new operating system. With this decision, the company stops the mainstream support starting from today but it continues to offer support for users until 14 January 2020, but with additional charges. Future updates to Windows 7 will not add new features, but will be released only to correct problems or security user experience. Those who have a license of Windows 7 should not worry, as these updates continue to be launched in the next five years. Version for embedded systems and equipment within companies (servers, ATMs, etc.) will receive support from Microsoft indefinitely.
During this period, the company strongly advise users to make upgrade to Windows 8.1 hoping that they will even choose directly Windows 10, when it will be officially launched.
