It can be used as a drop in replacement of Drupal search framework. It also offers tagadelic and faceted search support. Sphinx can be installed on the same server Drupal is running, however it is recommended to do so on a different one.

The search indexes can be partitioned and managed from different servers.

Installation

Unpack in your modules folder (usually /sites/all/modules/) and enable under Administer > Site Building > Modules.
